THE STORY BEHIND STORIES WITH STRATEGIES

When I retired from the everyday pastoral work of serving a congregation, I did not leave ministry—but rather, I began pursuing that vocation in a new way.

The heart of my pastoral ministry has always been to shepherd people’s stories. Pastoral work focuses on working with the questions:

>How to change a life-story?

>How to imagine new chapters in one’s personal story?

>How to draw from the stories of other people—and the stories of faith to improve one’s own story?

>How to get practical in actually altering one’s stories?

>How to change the story of one’s church, family, neighborhood, nation?

So, when I retired, I started Stories with Strategies, offering a comprehensive range of services, from critiquing one’s current story, to making effective changes in that story, to getting one’s story out for others to experience.

I work with both organizations (mostly churches) and individuals (mostly people who want to get their stories published.)  But I can customize my consultations and assistance to meet your specific needs.

Stories with Strategies is also the publishing arm for my own books and articles.

Workshops and consultations are offered in the following areas:

>Analyzing your story

>Imagining feasible alternatives

>Crafting new chapters

>Living the change

>Sharing your story

My undergraduate work was in history and psychology—both fields are ripe with stories!  I earned a Master of Divinity Degree—seeping me in the stories of the Bible.  Add to that 50+ years of pastoral ministry—giving me a front row seat, and sometimes a role in people’s stories—enriching my understanding of how stories pivot.  And I am a published author of a book of stories—full of drama, humor, and observations into how our lives pivot from one direction into another.
